Start by performing 5 sets comprised of 10 reps each. perform this exercise twice a week, and every week do another rep with each set up to a maximum of five sets comprised of 20 reps each. Make sure to take only a 30-second to 60-second break between sets. Do not take a longer break than this because then the workout will not be as effective.

Exercise #2 - Using Straight Legs, Perform Lying Raises, Then Perform Planks

After you can complete five sets comprised of 20 reps each of bent leg lying leg raises, move on to this exercise. You will adhere to the same routine as with the first exercise. Week one will start with 5 sets comprised of 10 reps each, and you will add reps each week until you achieve 5 sets comprised of 20 reps each. After your sets of lying leg raises, perform 2 sets of planks. Stay in the plank position for 2 minutes, take a 60-second break, and do it again.

Exercise 3 - Use a Chin Up Bar to Perform Hanging Leg Raises, Then Perform Planks

You want to ensure that you can perform exercise #2 well prior to moving on to this exercise. You should continue the routine for progression as outlined with the first two exercises. You want to gradually increase your workout to five sets comprised of 20 reps each. You might need 6 or more months to get here. After the hanging raises, perform 2 or 3 sets of planks, which you should hold for 2 minutes. You might need to perform the planks on bent legs at first to get used to them, prior to performing them on straight legs.

Hanging Leg Raises Are the Most Effective Abs Exercise Available

These exercises are unquestionably the best abs exercise you can do. These are going to target your lower abs, but they are also going to define your entire torso. No other exercise will get better results than hanging leg raises. In Paul Wade's book, "Convict Conditioning", it is stated that 5 sets comprised of 15 to 20 reps of hanging leg raises are what will lead to strong, well-defined ab muscles. Personally, I also use planks to get even better results than the leg raises alone.

2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Revealed Further In New Gallery, High-Performance Model Reported

ALFA ROMEO has issued a new gallery for its upcoming 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta today, offering the most comprehensive look yet at the stylish new hatch. The new images also provide the first full look at the Giulietta's dash.

Until late last year, the Giulietta was to be known as the Milano, but employee protests over the use of the name saw Alfa swiftly change tack, reviving the Giulietta name.

Following the new styling language of the smaller MiTo and the 8C Competizione, the Giulietta enters the Alfa line-up as Fiat's answer to the Audi A3.

The Giulietta's headlights feature LED technology and the nearly ubiquitous (in Euro cars) Daytime Running Light system.

The rear door handles are hidden in the rear window return, giving the new model a stylish three-door look.

Inside, the Giulietta has been designed to recall the feel of the 8C's interior, featuring aluminium accents and rocker controls modelled on the 8C.

The new hatch will be launched with four Euro V-compliant turbo-charged engines, two of them petrol and two diesel.

The 1.4 TB and 1.4 TB MultiAir petrol engines produce 90kW and 127kW respectively. Alfa Romeo says the 1.4 TB engine uses just 4.6 l/100km of petrol on the combined cycle.

The diesel 1.6 JTDM produces 78kW and the 2.0 JTDM diesel engine 127kW. The 1.6 JTDM engine lists a fuel consumption figure of 3.7 l/100km, while the 2.0 JTDM uses 4.1 l/100km.

All four engines are teamed with a manual six-speed transmission, while the MultiAir and 2.0 JTDM engines will also be offered with Fiat's new TCT twin-clutch automatic transmission.

Alfa will later add the 175kW TBi Quadrifoglio Verde model to the Giulietta line-up, and while specific details and performance figures are still to come, Alfa says the special model will be offered with 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels.

On the safety front, the Giulietta features Vehicle Dynamic Control, Dynamic Steering Torque, Q2 electronic differential and Alfa DNA selector, allowing drivers to choose the setting best suited to the driving conditions.

Daniel Cotterill, Public Relations Manager for Australian Alfa Romeo importer Ateco confirmed to TMR recently that the stylish hatch will come to Australia later this year, replacing the 147 in the local line-up.

"Without official launch dates for overseas markets announced yet, it's difficult to say, however our best indication at this point is that the Giulietta will arrive in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2010," Mr Cotterill said.

"It's a stunning car. Our service manager returned from Italy this week where he joined a group of international Alfa managers to be briefed on the Giulietta, and he said it's many times more beautiful in the metal than the photos can show."

Alfa Romeo Working On High-Performance Giulietta Variant

A report recently by British magazine Autocar suggests Alfa Romeo is developing a high-performance version of the Golf-sized Giulietta.

The hot hatch would reportedly maintain its existing front-wheel-drive layout, drawing power from Fiat's new 1750 TBi turbo-charged Multiair petrol engine, developing around 175kW.

Other features expected to appear in the rumoured Giulietta GTA or Cloverleaf model include Alfa's Q2 electronic differential, active dampers and the new TCT twin-clutch automatic transmission.

Alfa Romeo 159 1750 TBi (2010)

At the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Alfa Romeo unveiled numerous major developments heralding the re-launch of the brand on the global stage. Protagonist of the event was the new Alfa Romeo 159 (saloon and Sportwagon versions). The new 159 is designed to express a sporting yet seductive personality and boasts road holding and performance that set new standards for this class of car. Two new engines in particular (a 200 HP, 1750 cc turbocharged petrol engine and a 170 HP 2.0 JTDM diesel) place the Alfa Romeo 159 firmly in market segment D, in the power range that accounts for over half of Alfa Romeo sales.

Under their fascinating and highly personal exterior, all Alfa Romeos offer a choice of superb engines, all packed with the latest technology and bursting with performance. Alfa Romeo engines are the perfect embodiment of the sporting soul that has always set the marque apart from the competition. The Alfa Romeo 159 is certainly no exception. Starting from April 2009, the new 159 will be available with a brand new engine: a 1750 cc turbocharged petrol engine that conforms to Euro 5 standards and develops 200 HP between 4,750 and 5,500 rpm with 320 Nm of torque at only 1,400 rpm.

The new 1750 cc turbo petrol engine (manufactured by FPT - Fiat Powertrain Technologies) comes combined with a six speed manual gearbox and boasts advanced ignition control solutions including direct fuel injection, two continuously variable valve timing units, a turbocharger and a revolutionary scavenging control system. The resulting performance is comparable to - or better than - that of many 3 litre engines while still delivering fuel consumption typical of a compact four cylinder unit.

The force behind the development of any Alfa Romeo engine is the company's determination to use technology to enhance driving pleasure. This certainly applies to the development of the new, Euro 5, "1750 Turbo Benzina 200 CV" unit destined immediately for the Alfa Romeo 159 and later on for the Alfa Romeo Brera, Spider and 159 Sportwagon.

This engine takes the Alfa Romeo 159, with its refined Italian styling and typical sporting elegance to an impressive top speed of 235 kph and accelerates it from 0 to 100 kph in just 7.7 seconds. The 200 HP Alfa Romeo 159 1750 TBi is therefore a true representative of Alfa's exclusive motoring lifestyle. Far from being a mere 'means of transport', the new 159 is a real driver's car. It delivers genuine sports performance and muscular acceleration thanks to generous torque and smooth response even at low revs and the extended power band of a modern, advanced petrol engine that minimises the need for you to 'work' the gearbox. The engine sound too is inspiring without ever becoming tiresome.
